I was a Research Associate on the Peopling the Desert Project and I am currently Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on the Trans-Sahara Project
My research focuses on Mediterranean and Saharan landscapes through the use of satellite remote sensing, field survey and GIS spatial analyses. I completed my PhD on Iron Age to Roman communities in central Italy in 2010 at the University of Leicester and have conducted research in North Africa since 2007.
I was a Research Associate on the Peopling the Desert Project and I am currently Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on the Trans-Sahara Project leading the ‘Urbanisation and State-Formation’ strand for which I have been systematically mapping the archaeology of Saharan oases. I am an active field archaeologist, I was assistant director of the Ghadames Archaeological Survey and I co-direct the newly formed ‘Middle Wadi Draa Project’ with David Mattingly. This project will study hilltop settlements, agriculture and landscapes in southern Morocco.
