I am the founding editor of the Journal of Roman Military Equipment Studies and run my own publishing concern (The Armatura Press).
I am a specialist on the Roman army, with a long-standing interest in the use of IT in archaeology, in recent years leaning towards neogeographical applications and the interaction with Creative Commons licensed data. I worked in UK commercial field archaeology for two decades (directing excavations at Chester-le-Street, Roecliffe, Inveresk Gate, and the Doncaster park-and-ride scheme amongst others) and before that was employed on the backlog publication of excavations at Corbridge and Housesteads for English Heritage.
I am the founding editor of the Journal of Roman Military Equipment Studies and run my own publishing concern (The Armatura Press). I have been involved in field survey in Jordan and led tours around the archaeological sites of Syria for specialist holiday companies.
